April 13th - Strawberries
Strawberries
Yellow
fading fields of oilseed rape
In
early Summer a warm sunny breeze
The
first taste of the new season's strawberry
Freshly
picked, ripe, luscious, sweet.
The
laughter at a new joke
Only
funny the first time round.
A
baby's first smile
True
and clear, twinkling eyed.
Some
things are best tasted carefully,
Savouring
the sweetness.
Such
are my feelings for you.
Always
aware of the danger of getting too used to you, of going too far.
The
erotic anticipation of what will probably never happen
A
hug, a kiss, a smile, a look.
Such
is the sweet tentative taste of our innocence.
