Our home, the Earth spins round and round

On it’s axis just a little tilted

As God, the creator builted.

The moon goes around the Earth

And the Earth goes around the sun

And it is and is how it begun.

But it is so much more complicated than that.

You see, we all move about a-spin and orbit and wander and rotate at such-a-rate...

Speed.

To understand speed

You have to accept that there is a point from which you are moving.

A reference point.

Like a road sign, or a church, or a man eating a pie.

Watching you as you go whizzing by.

At thirty miles an hour;

 (Is that all?)

(very slow an d safe: good driver... making sure you safe arriver)

But.

There are no road signs in space.

Or churches. Or men with pies.

So.

On your imagination this relies.

The Earth spins at nearly 1000 miles an hour

That’s faster than a jumbo jet

More than the speed of sound and yet...

And more...

The Earth orbits the sun but once a year

At 67,000 miles an hour... get your head in gear:

Because,

The solar system – Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn

Are in an arm of the galaxy milky way pattern

That moves like a spinning top

But not as slow,

A billion times faster it does go.  (483,000 mph)

Hope I haven’t lost you

In the depths of space.

Final number batch:

And here’s the catch:

Our galaxy is moving away and out in the universe

At 1.3 million miles an hour.

Probably in reverse.

So, you see, our planet moves around, around around a-whizzy

Seemingly through space and time so busy,

So – why don’t we all get dizzy?
